Feminist punk group Pussy Riot was denied bail by Moscow city court today: the young women who sang punk-prayers at Christ the savior cathedral will spend another month in custody awaiting trial. The solitary pickets in their support – the only legal form of street protest in Russia that doesn't require authorization from the authorities, were attacked by provocateurs and religious fundamentalists.

Police reports that they prevented a scuffle in front of the Moscow city court. Photographers disagree.
