The head of the Russian Ministry of Communications, Nikolay Nikiforov, posted on his Twitter feed that once the new law "black listing" offensive sites comes into force on November 1, Russians may lose access to YouTube video sharing because it hosts a trailer for the controversial anti-Islam film "Innocence of Muslims."

"Jokes are jokes, yet on November 3-5, because of this film YouTube could be completely blocked in Russia», wrote the minister under username nnikiforov.

It became known yesterday that the Russian Prosecutor General's Office had prepared a petition to the court and to demand recognition of the film as extremist. In addition to this, telco giant Roskomnadzor recommends operators block access by Russian Internet users from the trailer "innocent Muslims" immediately, even before the trial.

Even though the video was posted on YouTube in July, it was only in early September, as reported by the Western media, that the producers became the cause of the mass anti-American protests sweeping the Arab world. The film, which was shot in California, presents the Prophet Muhammad in a very derogatory manner. The young actor who plays him makes up the "laws of Allah" as hegoes, in order to achieve goals which lead to promiscuity.

"Interfax" reports that if the court finds the clip extremist, the owner of YouTube, Google will likely remove the film from the site: the corporation previously stated that it is ready to block access to a film in specific countries at the request of the local authorities or by courts. For this reason, Google has already restricted access to the video in India and Indonesia, and has blocked it in Egypt and Libya. However, in Pakistan, Google has not blocked the controversial film, so Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has ordered local Internet providers to block access to YouTube for all Pakistani users
