The murder suspect in the Kazan "Free Pussy Riot" murders has admitted guilt, according to the Investigative Committee website. He was arrested a day after police found the mutilated bodies of a 76-year-old and her 38-year-old daughter. The murderer is Igor Danilevsky, an old friend of the victims, and a PhD university lecturer.

The site states "after being questioned, the suspect, a man, fully admitted his guilt."

Danilevsky explained that the younger victim borrowed money from the bank for him, and because he had no money, he was pretending to be in love wit her. He had promised to spend a holiday with her in Egypt.

The IC report says "Becuause he had a lack of money, he going to Simferopol instead of Egypt. On 22 August in the victim's apartment, Danilevsky announced that the trip would have to be postponed until January. The victim chided Danilevsky for constantly lying to her. Danilevsky then grabbed a knife and stabbed her several times."

Afterwards Danilevsky stabbed the victim's mother who was witness to the first murder. To confuse the investigation, he wrote "Free Pussy Riot" on the wall in blood.
