One of the alleged Pussy Riot punk band members, Ekaterina Samutsevich, who is now under arrest, has gone on a hunger strike, reports Samutsevich's father to "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper. He said detention center workers did not take the food he brought for his daughter saying she was on a hunger strike.
According to Samutsevich's lawyers the situation was normal last week, there was no hunger strike. On Monday they decided to visit the prison to find out what was going on.
Ekaterina Samutsevich is suspected of participating in Pussy Riot's famous "punk prayer" in Russia's central church – the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Currently, three alleged members of the band are under arrest – along with Ekaterina Samutsevich are Maria Alekhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova. In April, human rights watchdog Amnesty International labelled them prisoners of conscience and demanded their immediate release.
