Communist protesters marched from Pushkinskaya to Lubyanka square. "Protest strollers", who have kept up their protest for three days and nights in a row, joined them. Police estimates the number of participants at 4,500, opposition reports at least 10,000, as usual. After the rally ended at Lubyanka, part of the strollers returned to Chistiye prudy, the rest went to Kremlin.

Some people sang wartime songs from near the Marshall Zhukov monument at the entrance to Red Square (Russia celebrates Victory day on May 9, hence the military parade on the Red Square this morning). Police detained some of the singers, saying their rally is unauthorized.

In the morning Anonymous hackers closed down president's web page Kremlin.ru, but it was up again by the afternoon.

Early in the morning, one of the protest leaders, Alexei Navalny, was detained again – for the 4th time in three days, this time he was left at the police station until court. There's still no court date and no grounds for such an arrest, his lawyer Nikolai Polizov reported in his Twitter.
