Tula resident who killed three robbers defending family will not face prosecution

Investigators have not found basis to charge Gegam Sarkissyan, a businessman from Tula who killed three people when they broke into his house and threatened to kill his family, the Investigative Committee reported Wednesday.
"There are no reasons to prosecute Sarkisyan at the moment," the IC said.
Gegam Sarkisyan is said to be the victim of an attempted robbery, the IC added.
The investigators say that while killing three robbers, Sarkisyan did not act beyond self-defense.
Late Friday, April 7, the family of 52-year old businessman, Gegam Sarkissian, were at home watching TV. His family included his wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, and three grandsons aged 6, 3 and 7 months. Four robbers, armed with knives and a pistol, entered the house
"They beat the children, my wife, my daughter, then started to beat me, and put a gun into my mouth," the head of the family told journalists.
When they put a gun to the baby's head, the businessman took a kitchen knife attacked the thieves. Three robbers died on the spot, the fourth managed to run away and police are still searching for him.
If it were determined that Sarkissian acted beyond self defense, he would face life imprisonment.
