Incumbent Turkmenistan president gains 97% in presidential elections

The incumbent President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, has won presidential elections in the Central Asian country. He gathered 97.14% of vote, according to preliminary data reported by RIA Novosti on Monday, citing the Central Election commission.
Seven more candidates took part in the election.
Yesterday, Berdymuhamedov, who is being elected for the second term, arrived to the voting station with his father, son and grandson.
On Sunday evening, the state media reported that the attendance at the vote exceeded 96%.
Berdymuhamedov has annulled some odious decisions of his predecessor, Saparmurat Niyazov. However, the country still remains quite closed.
