Communist deputy Sergey Gavrilov and United Russia deputy Sergey Popov have suggested creating a Parliamentary group on protecting Christian values. The project has already been approved by the Russian Orthodox church and was supported by the State Duma, Interfax news agency reported.
«Many State Duma deputies from all parties agree on the fact that the the Russian Church plays an enormous role in preserving the morality of our people," the communist deputy said.
According to Gavrolov the aim of the project is to struggle against "total and sect ideologies, aggressive liberalism, secularism, promotion of hedonism, violence, drug and alcohol abuse and gambling."
