Currently, the foster mother is in custody, pending the terms of her arrest.

According to prosecutors, the 35-year-old woman, who took in the two small children, beat one of them. The child, unconscious and with multiple injuries, was taken to the intensive care unit of the district hospital.

«The reason for the beating was that the six-year boy took a piece of candy without asking his foster mother" the prosecutor's office said in a statement. The child was operated on and at the moment his condition is critical.

As for the foster mother, she will be prosecuted for intentionally causing grievous bodily harm. She could face up to ten years imprisonment.

Her second child has temporarily been placed in a social rehabilitation center for minors
